IN MORE DETAIL…
The concept behind our Foodie Tour is quite simple: you want to skip the touristy spots that offer same things to everyone, avoid some potentially bad food that could ruin your impression of the city and dwell deeper into Belgrade’s gastro universe – we hear you, that is exactly what we want when we travel. And it is not easy to find a local gastro-enthusiast that is willing to spill the beans on dos-and-donts. Or at least it is not easy to find one in Belgrade. Being passionate about food and people willing to explore the local flavours, we got together with chefs and managers from local hotspots, carefully designed the menus for you guys and now we are waiting for you to book. Or send us an email. Or ask us anything food-related. We would be delighted to help you in any way we can so that your experience of Belgrade stays unique, warm, delicious and utterly indulgent. We will never take you to a place just because everyone goes there – if we don’t like their food, we ain’t eating there.
Food in Serbia, just like the rest of the Balkans, relies heavily on meat and dairies. That said, we can design and adjust menus around regular allergies/strong dislikes to a certain extent. Also, we toured vegetarians around (and they were happy, well fed and surprised by some interesting bites we served). If you are uncertain about the food or have any qualms, drop us an email – the safest way to make this experience a memorable one is to be honest and straightforward about these things.
The full extent of the tour is designed to be experienced in small, private groups (usually 5-8 people) that can hop around 6 different gastro spots, munch on the tasty bites, laugh, chat and discuss the weather, politics, local culture, some culinary history or design. Or music. Or cakes (we LOVE cakes). Or all of the above, it is really up to you. What we make sure every time is that you understand how all the food we selected fits into the overall universe of Belgrade gastro world and why these bites trace their roots in history and culture of Serbia, from 13th century till today. Or tomorrow if you decide to join us next week. We meet with you, take you around, explain stuff, laugh with you, drive you from one place to another or walk briefly from one spot to another and you taste, feel and see Belgrade that usually remains hidden. Yes, all of this, in a single tour…

IN MORE DETAIL…
Wine tasting is a popular activity among foodies. Rakija is popular among locals. Good local bites are popular among everyone. We mix these three in a special tour that will satisfy all of your senses. And we mean it. We venture a bit outside of the city centre to a special location (taxi/private transport is included in the price of the tour!), usually in the group of some 10-15 eager enthusiasts. This where it all starts. We partnered with local experts for wine and rakija to create this tour, and the people have not been disappointed!
For about three hours we talk about local wine, history of the underground passages in Belgrade that smugglers have been using for ages (yup, we do and it makes sense), how to mix and match particular wine varieties with cheese, prosciutto and sweets and then we eat hot barbecued meet. Just like that! You know, Serbians are all about these kind of things. On a regular weekend. Or a Wednesday. You should not miss this, especially if you feel a bit adventurous.
After we finish with the delicious barbecue (veggie option available upon request) and clear the palette, we continue the liquid hedonism tour with tasting of some o.u.t.s.t.a.n.d.i.n.g. rakija made of grapes, plums, pears, apricots and quince. Trust us, it is super, super good. Strong, but good. No headache tomorrow, just a light reminder that the night before has been a true success. And then, after we wrap it up, we tour you back to the city centre and our meeting spot. Easy, right? We know, it sounds too good to be true but it really really isn’t. IN MORE DETAIL…
There are many ways one can wake up – a bucket of cold water usually does the work. In the movies. We prefer subtle and delicate smell of freshly brewed cappuccino, by our local barista, with some nice latte art on top. And a croissant on a side. With chocolate cream inside. The love for coffee and the overwhelming sensation when we immerse ourselves in a good cup has spilled over to sharing the subtler joys this magical beverage has to offer. Translating the previous sentence into an actual event – we organise a coffee tasting afternoon, exploring not only different blends and single origin beans of best coffees from around the world but we also learn how to smell, taste and appreciate different coffee aromas. The coffee shop is closed down for us – just guests of the tour – and a seemingly lazy Sunday afternoon turns into an awesome hang-out with abundance of flavours.
Obviously, the foodies we are, no event is ever complete without food of some sort. For coffee tasting event this can only mean one thing – CAKE CAKE CAKE! Oh goodness! Not any cake, mind you. Carefully selected artisanal bites created from the best Belgian chocolate by a local chef who worked all around the world are just for starters. Then we add Turkish delights from a store that has been making these by hand the same way for decades and decades. These bites perfectly match aromas of local coffee brew we still nostalgically refer to as “Turkish” coffee, and no coffee tasting event in Serbia is complete without this.
Our local barista expert will also share some knowledge on the difference between Arabica and Robusta coffee, speciality coffee associations, quality control, what goes into making the perfect cup of espresso and eager guests will be given an opportunity to make their own cup of barista coffee. On a professional machine, made by hand, piece by piece. All authentic, all delicious, all Gastro Balkan.
